A few days ago, over dinner with another female fashion entrepreneur, I caught myself saying something wild.
“I used to hate bespoke.”
I meant it. There was a season I wanted to shut it all down. Not because I didn’t believe in it. But because I felt buried under it. The pressure. The weight. The emotional energy it takes to create something that lives on forever in someone else’s story. It’s not just fabric and fittings, it’s memories. And I wasn’t sure I had space for all of it anymore.
But something shifted this past year.
I found my way back to the craft.
And this time, it felt different. I didn’t lose my way — I just needed to build one that I could walk on with peace. I used to think structure would wear me down. I now know structure is what brought me freedom. Boundaries gave me room to breathe, and room to fall in love again.
Now? I can’t imagine not doing bespoke.
Nothing connects me to my clients like this part of the work. It’s not just fashion. It’s service. It’s trust. It’s being invited into a woman’s most intimate, meaningful moments and helping her show up fully, unapologetically, in all her glory.
It’s the same joy I feel when I cook for people I love. That quiet, fulfilled kind of joy. The kind that comes from pouring your heart into something, and watching it nourish someone else.
Last week, my heart was full to the brim as I celebrated one of my favourite muses, Rita Dominic. A woman I’ve had the privilege of styling across time zones and seasons — from aisle moments in England to ime ego and igba nkwu in Imo State, from late-night fittings across continents to red carpet magic in Lagos. It’s been over seven years of honouring her story through clothing. Every look we create is layered with memory, meaning, and love.
Acts of service is not just my love language, it’s my calling.
Called to serve a select few. Women who lead with passion, grit, and integrity. Women who are unapologetically feminine, unshakably strong. Resilient in spirit, grounded in values, and full of heart. Bold. Courageous. Soft. Unstoppable.
TUBO Women. Born to lead. Created for impact.
That’s what bespoke is to me now. Not just clothing but calling. I don’t take it lightly. And I don’t take it for granted.
What an honour to be part of these golden chapters. To show up for women making history. To help them look like who they already are on the inside.
With love,
Tubo
